Kids Survive in the Bush

Kids and their parents survived the school holidays this summer with fun and adventure in the bush. Local adventure guide, Rosie Smith from Out of Sight Tours ran a series of successful “Bush Survival Skills for Kids” Workshops in Denmark during the summer school holidays. The workshops were popular with local children and visitors alike. Children learnt a range of skills essential for survival in the Australian bush, including how to filter water, how to build a mini-shelter, and how to signal their presence to others. They also learnt to look for and recognise different kinds of animal tracks.

Rosie said that the aim of the workshop was to teach kids what to do if they ever got lost in the bush. “The kids were eager to learn and demonstrate their skills. Even the parents who came along enjoyed themselves and learnt something new”.

Out of Sight Tours owner, Lenore Lyons, said it was the first time the business had run a school holiday program and they were overwhelmed by the positive response, with workshops booked out every week. “The sessions were a big hit. Local kids want to know when the next one will be held, so we will definitely be running more workshops during the Easter school holidays”.
